This book places strong emphasis on collaboration with organizations and communities with the inclusion of planned change approaches and implementation. This latest edition boasts a plethora of new and updated features for an improved student experience. The leading expert on this team is that of F. Ellen Netting. Holding her doctoral degree in Social Serve Administration, she currently serves as Professor and Samuel S. Wurtzel Endowed Faculty Chair in Social Work at VCU School of Social Work. Netting is also a veteran writer with experience co-authoring or co-editing 16 books and publishing over 175 book chapters. A second contributor to the efforts on Social Work Macro Practice (5th Edition) is Peter M. Kettner. He most recently served as Professor Emeritus at Arizona State University School of Social Work and has also acted as consultant to five different state human service agencies and dozens of local nonprofit agencies on their purchase of service contracting practices and in the design and implementation of effectiveness-based planning systems. Kettner has also authored or co-authored six books, over 50 articles, monographs, and book chapters. Steven L. McMurtry is the third member of this authoring team. Holding a doctorate in Social Welfare, he currently serves as a professor in the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. McMurty also currently chairs the Ph.D. program in his department and co-directs a federally funded training program for current and prospective child welfare workers. The final contributor to this team is M. Lori Thomas. With a doctorate in Social Work, she is currently an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Thomas also has over 10 years of work experience in affordable housing and homeless services and recently coordinated and directed the development of a permanent housing and comprehensive mental health program for homeless individuals in the Greater Richmond, Virginia area.
