The first half of this writing duo is G. Tyler Miller who is both a seasoned educator and writer. With his doctorate from the University of Virginia and over 20 years of college teaching experience, he has also been awarded two honorary doctorate degrees for his contributions to environmental education. Currently, Miller serves as the President of Earth Education and Research, devoted to improving environmental education. He has also contributed 58 textbooks to the science education world focusing on environmental science, basic ecology, energy, and environmental chemistry. Some of his published works include Environmental Science, Living in the Environment, Sustaining the Earth, and Essentials of Ecology. The second half of the collaborative effort on Living in the Environment: Principles, Connections, and Solutions is Scott Spoolman. Spoolman received his master's degree from the University of Minnesota in science journalism and boasts more than 25 years of experience in educational publishing. His repertoire of writing accomplishments also includes several articles in the fields of science, environmental engineering, politics, and business and he has served as an acquisitions editor on a series of forestry textbooks. Spoolman has also worked as a consulting editor in the development of more than 70 textbooks in the fields of natural and social sciences.
