The poems of Alessandro Carta, writer, painter, musician and roman composer speak of two lives, the European and the Australian. Two continents, thirty years apart but above all two different worlds: the first decadent, disenchanted and already worn out, the second vital, solar and inviting. The writings are presented in chronological order to highlight the flowing in time and space of the author's life experiences, and they're characterized by a strongly personal style, using often the metric of prose in such a way to accentuate the strong bond that gradually is established with the reader. The poems written in the seventies and in the early eighties present themselves as pieces of a broken mirror, fragments scattered on the road reflecting patches of existence taken from an anguished perspective. The main subject is life, intimate life, sometimes experienced far beyond the author's will, and the external world can only manage to tear off what remains of the frame, often warping itself at the edges of the chipped glass. And so the verses become Alessandro's fingertips, eyes, eardrums, and the reader can feel the vortex of living the events and the emotions through another person. Then the journey begins, the physical journey through the continents and, above all, the inner one. New fresh air arrives. The outside world is different now, open, light with no luggage, and this new atmosphere is reflected in the verses. The new world, the spirit of adventure burst into Alessandro's soul. Now everything is possible and the poetry changes: it's no longer an anguished review of moments of life but transforms itself into a declaration of in-tents. Difficulties are not an obstacle anymore rather new challenges. Meetings blossom in new opportunities, they're not scars marking the face anymore. The mirror is again in one piece, ready to welcome the world. The new world, the one alive. This collection of poems is presented to the reader in Italian and English. Though be aware, it's not a simple work of translation rather the wish of the author to pour and transfer experiences and feelings between two diverse worlds, the Italian and the Australian. The graphic works constitute an integral part of the poetic journey sha-ring with the poems the genesis of the creative process. The stroke, the su-bjects, the breath reflect the two different phases of the author's life and the drawings, like the verses, tell us about two distant worlds different in all but combined by the profound spirituality of Alessandro and by his indo-mitable faith in the inner force of every human being.
