A highly recommended textbook that is often described as being ‘for the students and by the students,' SOC 2011 Edition (ISBN 9780073528298) was written by Jon Witt. This engaging textbook is known for its visual appeal; it helps students easily pass the course without compromising clarity and comprehensives of information. The author discusses the sociological imagination, sociological research, and culture in great detail, and devotes sections to socialization, social structure and interaction and deviance. A portion of the book focuses on families, education and religion, government and economy, social class, global inequality, and gender and age. Other topics covered include race and ethnicity, health, medicine, and environment, and social change. This textbook offers current information packed in a visually appealing magazine format and encourages students to see the world in a different light. SOC 2011 Edition can help students gain a different perspective for their own growth. Already in its 2nd edition, this portable reference has been updated with supplements and self-study tools. There are also interactive learning systems available to help learners further cultivate and integrate sociology into everyday living. This glossy ‘magazine' uses references to pop culture, making it more relevant to students. Unlike other sociology textbooks, this introductory-level material will be appreciated by non-sociology majors, too. Author Jon Witt is part of the faculty of Central College, Pella. He teaches introductory sociology, sociological theory, and sociology of science and technology, and has written a number of other well received titles, including The Big Picture: A Sociology Primer.
Since launching the first textbook rental site in 2006, BookRenter has never wavered from our mission to make education more affordable for all students. Every day, we focus on delivering students the best prices, the most flexible options, and the best service on earth. On March 13, 2012 BookRenter.com, Inc. formally changed its name to Rafter, Inc.
