This textbook serves as an all-inclusive resource on the ins and outs of how law affects day-to-day managerial decisions and business practice. A key focus of this book is that of ethical considerations with coverage including such legal topics as torts, criminal law, intellectual property, and environmental law. Chapters include effective text features to further enhance the student's learning experience such as numerous examples of law in action, sections discussing how laws apply to cyberspace, as well as the presentation of economic, historical, and political perspectives. One of the experts behind Managers and the Legal Environment: Strategies for the 21st Century is that of Constance E. Bagley. She currently serves as a Professor in the Practice of Law and Management at the Yale School of Management and received the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2009. Bagley has also served as an Associate Professor at Harvard Business School, Senior Lecturer in Law and Management at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, as well as a corporate securities partner in the San Francisco office of Bingham McCutchen. She is a seasoned writer as well with a myriad of published articles and books including Winning Legally: How Managers Can Use the Law to Create Value, Marshal Resources, and Manage Risk and the co-authored work of Managers of the Legal Environment: Strategies for the 21st Century. The second contributor to this book is Diane Savage. Currently she serves as Lecturer on business law at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and is of counsel to Cooley Godward Kronish LLP, a large national law firm that represents companies across various industries and in all major technology fields. Savage has also served as General Counsel of Adobe Systems Incorporated and currently serves on the editorial board of the Boalt Hall Law Review and the Board of Trustees of Emory University.
