A new chapter has been added on electromagnetic compatibility, which is a subject that all electronic engineers need to be aware of. There are increased references to the non-ideal behaviour of electronic components and circuits to explain how and why circuits differ from the idealizations of circuit theory. In particular, attention is drawn to the effects of parasitic capacitances and inductance on the frequency dependence of resistance and on the properties of electromagnetic screens.
